It has rained most of the day in Rome and is currently building to the west and will continue to move in throughout the evening...due to the weather we will cancel our trip to see the Rome Braves tonight and will reschedule for an upcoming game.
Final night of VBS - total attendance tonight including parents and visitors was 73- three night combined total was 177!!! The night ended with a pie in the face of the pastor and his wife! Thank you to all who attended, taught, did crafts, helped in the kitchen or just hung out to see the action. God is good!!!
Day 2 of VBS - 48 in attendance tonight! Such a great sight!!! So thankful for all of our teachers and crafters...you guys are all the best!

We have lost another church member: Ms. Rhoda Lynn Howell MS. RHODA LYNN HOWELL, age 58, of Allen Street, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in a Rome hospital. Ms. Howell was born in Trion, Georgia on May 24, 1959, a daughter of the late Mike Howell and Rachel Lambert Adair. She was a member of Gaylesville First Baptist Church and a retired computer consultant. She was preceded in death by special friend, George Treadaway, in December, 2015. Surviving are special aunts, Carolyn Dodd and Becky McCary; uncles Rayburn Lambert and Terry Howell; step daughter and spouse, Dana and Ivan Holden; step grandchildren, LeAnn and Levi; special first cousins, LaDon Odom and Neal Shropshire. Funeral service will be held Saturday, February 3rd, at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Nixon officiating. The Family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements for Ms. Rhoda Lynn Howell who passed away Tuesday.
Due to the prolonged cold temperatures and uncertainty of road conditions after sunset tonight there will be no services at Gaylesville First Baptist Church tonight. Any liquid on the road surfaces will be frozen or will refreeze after sunset this evening. We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday morning for Sunday School!
Forgot to post these yesterday , we had a special guest in Sunday school, Thank you to Lori for helping us with out lesson on the Potter and the clay . It was a small class but We truly enjoyed it !

I want to say I'm so proud of this young lady , Anna Rose Nixon. She loves the Lord with all her heart and it shows! She's an inspiration to me and everyone she meets . It was an honor to present (and surprise) her with this Gift (Bible) from the Gaylesville First Baptist Church Sunday School Class, for her eagerness to learn more about God and to share it with others ! She is always wiling to help out whether it be in Sunday School or at a church function And that smile on her face is priceless , Rosie you keep doing what you're doing sweet girl , God has a great plan for you! I love you and i am very proud of you !
Obituary for our precious baby grandson: Little Matthew Ryan Espy, infant son of Jason and Brooklyn Nixon Espy of Summerville, GA passed away Friday June 2, 2017 at Floyd Medical Center. Survivors, parents, Jason and Brooklyn Nixon Espy grandparents, Gene & Linda Espy, Chris & Carla Nixon, Sandra Teeters, great-grandparents, Rose & Larry Nixon, Carl & Peggy Pierce, aunt, Annarose Nixon. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Nixon officiating with interment in the Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Cliff Bullard, Neil Shropshire. Little Matthew Ryan Espy will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday June 5, 2017 from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.

In our children's Sunday school class we will start our special mothers day projects and will be talking about our mothers and how important and special they are to us . Had fun in Sunday school this morning. The kids made an edible tomb with the stone that was rolled away and colored a picture to take home and made a paper cross as we talked about why Jesus hung on the cross , died was placed in the tomb and rose again the third day
We had so much fun at our church Easter egg hunt today. The kids got to dye their eggs and then ,we had hot dogs and then they had the best time finding the eggs . At Gaylesville First Baptist Church we believe you can have fun and still learn about the Lord at the same time! We hope to see all of these kids and more at church in the morning, Sunday school starts at 10:00 and the kids are going to be doing a special "edible" craft and more fun things! So if you have no home church we want to send a special invitation to you and your family to come join us in honoring our Lord and Savior by celebrating his resurrection! Obituary for Mary Harrell Mrs. Mary Harrell age 78 of Gaylesville passed away Friday March 17th at her residence. Funeral services will be 3 PM Sunday March 19th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Nixon and Rev. Danny Langley officiating, burial will follow in Weiss Lake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Pallbearers include Shane Dodd, Craig Canada, Kyle Harrell, Nathan Harrell, Briley Mitchell and Gene Slayton. Survivors include sons, Steve (Renae) Harrell of Gaylesville, David (Denae) Harrell of Gaylesville and Jeff Harrell of Cedar Bluff; daughter, Sheila Canada of Gaylesville; brothers, James McGee of Centre and Louie (Joyce) McGee of Centre; sisters, Arlene Stepps, Shirley Williamson, Peggy Hunter and Dula Nell Hudgins; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Odas Harrell, daughters, Carol Dodd and Martha Jones and grandson, Christopher Dodd. Mrs. Harrell was a native of Cherokee County and the daughter of the late Wesley and Ruth Abernathy McGee and a member of the Gaylesville First Baptist Church.

We will be making clothes pin crosses to take home and we will enjoy an edible cross snack as well. In Sunday school this morning we talked about John 3:16 , and that God sent his only son Jesus to die on the cross for us , and he is our one true Valentine. And made these valentine's fir the ones we love .
Just getting around to posting, we talked about the trinity in Sunday school and made trinity bracelets. And we talked about the first five kernels of corn and what each reminded us of . I truly enjoy teaching these kids about God and showing them his love. I'm always praying for a room full and thankful for each one . Thank you to my two big helpers Brooklyn and Hope, for always being willing to do what ever God has for you to do . We love our church and enjoy teaching and learning right along with our kids !
